A Guide to Maintaining Recycled Fabrics

At Sylk Swim, every piece begins with intention. From the silhouettes you return to season after season, to the fabrics chosen for their beauty and longevity, each element is thoughtfully considered. One material that reflects our values most is ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon created from discarded fishing nets, fabric scraps and other nylon waste that would otherwise sit in landfill.

ECONYL® represents a quieter kind of luxury. Soft against the skin, highly resilient and created with the planet in mind. It allows us to design pieces that feel refined while supporting a more conscious approach to swimwear.

This guide shares what makes our signature fabrication special, along with the simple steps that will help you care for your swim so it remains beautiful for years to come.

What Is ECONYL®

ECONYL® is a premium yarn produced by regenerating existing nylon waste into something new. The result is a fabric that is both environmentally considered and exceptionally high performing.

Our ECONYL® blend consists of 78% recycled polyamide and 22% Italian Xtra Life Lycra. The combination creates a soft, breathable material with remarkable durability. It is resistant to chlorine, sun and lotions, offers UV protection and maintains its shape and stretch through repeated wear.

Every Sylk Swim piece crafted from ECONYL® is designed to move with you while retaining the refined structure you love.

Why We Choose It

At Sylk Swim, sustainability is an ongoing commitment. ECONYL® allows us to reduce waste while creating elevated essentials that stand the test of time.

The fabric is certified and traceable through recognised industry standards, including the Global Recycle Standard and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. These certifications ensure that our materials meet strict criteria for quality, environmental responsibility and safe production practices.

Imported from Italy, our ECONYL® fabrication is created to withstand the elements. It resists salt, chlorine and harmful UV rays while still maintaining the softness and stretch that define the Sylk Swim feel. The result is a fabric that offers long-lasting comfort, elegance and freedom of movement.

Caring for Your ECONYL® Swim

To preserve the look and feel of your swim, gentle care is essential. These simple practices will extend the life of your pieces and ensure they remain as beautiful as the day they arrived.
