OUR STORY
Sylk Swim is designed with purpose, finding a delicate balance of timelessness and functionality to offer women luxurious swimwear essentials that last.
Our approach to design is simple: Sylk Swim is born from a desire to instil an inherent sense of confidence in our wearer, with silhouettes that flatter the female form and celebrate our individuality.
We’re intoxicated by the allure of escapism, and our deep connection to the ocean informs our effortless styling that surpasses trends.
Since our inception three years ago, we’ve remained committed to learning and improving our manufacturing processes. Last year, we made the conscious decision to shift our production to Bali, Indonesia in an effort to prioritise ethically sourced, high-quality fabrications for enduring wear and comfort. Each piece we create passes through the hands of our artisans in Bali, Indonesia, grounding our brand with the traditional craftsmanship of our makers.
As we continue to evolve as a brand, we are guided by our community of women—the very essence of every Sylk Swim design and collection.
OUR FOUNDER
In 2018, Shani Grimmond founded Sylk Swim in coastal Queensland.
My journey to creating Sylk Swim began organically. I envisioned a brand that would resonate with women around the world and echo my desire to help others feel beautiful. I think in each one of us, there’s an innate need for connection and self-acceptance. I wanted Sylk Swim to imbue what every woman deserves—confidence, empowerment and celebration.
Sylk Swim takes its reference from travel, the ocean and high fashion to authentically portray the modern woman. I spent years refining this concept while sourcing manufacturing partners who shared my sense of environmental and social responsibility. And together, we launched our first collection in 2019.
I am continuously inspired by the team around me, both in Australia and Bali, and while all are unique, they share a commonality of creativity, passion and dedication.
To me, Sylk Swim is more than just a swimwear brand. It’s about celebrating what makes us human. Our community is at the forefront of everything we do, every piece we design and every message we share.
